Masked raiders armed with hammers and bricks terrified staff after robbing a bookmakers in Tooting on Halloween.

The gang, who were all wearing Halloween-style masks, entered Ladbrokes betting shop, in Franciscan Road, just after 8pm on Wednesday, October 31.

One of the suspects threatened two female members of staff with two bricks before demanding cash. After forcing another staff member to empty the tills and fruit machines, all three men made off on foot towards Tooting Bec.

Detective Sergeant Guy Carmichael, from the Flying Squad, said: "I am appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of either incident on Halloween evening and who saw the three suspects to contact me.

"Given the time of year there would have been numerous people dressed up but I am releasing images of those involved in the hope that someone will have seen them and can provide us with more details about their movements and identities."

Forty minutes later the same gang robbed another Ladbrokes bookmakers, this time in Croydon Road, Penge.

Again the main suspect was armed with bricks while another suspect was wielding a hammer.

They smashed a glass screen inside the shop before making off with a quantity of cash and a watch.

No members of staff were injured during either incident and police have also confirmed no arrests have been made yet.

CCTV within the shop captured the raiders' masks and police are now urging the public to come forward with information. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Flying Squad at Barnes on 0208 247 4804 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
