Two teenagers have been charged with theft after a former Wandsworth police officer died while chasing suspects.
The pair allegedly stole a mobile phone from an elderly woman.
During the incident, the suspects were being pursued by Detective Constable Adele Cashman when she collapsed.
She was given CPR at the scene by a colleague but was taken to Royal Free Hospital and died just after 11pm.
The incident happened just after 9pm on Monday night in Belsize Park Gardens, in north London.
Paying tribute to the former Wandsworth policewoman On Tuesday, Chief Superintendent David Chinchen, Wandsworth Borough Commander, described her as "extremely able and dedicated".
DC Cashman, who was based at Kentish Town police station, joined the Met in 2006 and was stationed at Wandsworth for four years.
In 2010, the 30-year-old became a detective and moved to Camden.
In a further tribute to their fallen comrade officers at Battersea Police Station lowered the MPS flag to half mast.
The youths will appear at Highbury Corner Youth Court on November 14.
