Amanda Holden, David Gandy and Rebecca Adlington took to the red carpet for the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home annual ball.

The annual Collars and Coats Gala Ball is the charities major fund-raiser and aims to raise thousands for the cause.

Guests were greeted with a unique guard of honour made up of dozens of Battersea dogs, who ushered the star down the red carpet.

Paul O'Grady, Battersea Dogs Home ambassador, Gary Lineker and Nicky Clarke also showed up to show their support to the canines on Thursday.

A dogwalk replaced the traditional catwalk outside the home, where designers ranging from Giles Deacon to Henry Holland dressed pooches in coats and accessories.

They were later auctioned in the evening to raise money for the charity.

There was also a champagne reception, gourmet dinner as well as entertainment from Jamie Cullem and Joss Stone.

Rebecca Adlington said: "Tonight has been amazing and I wanted to take all the dogs home, they were all so lovely, and so cute. Hopefully I can adopt a rescue dog from Battersea in the future."

David Gandy said : "I’m really pleased to join Battersea Dogs & Cats Home on their biggest night of the year at the Collars and Coats Gala Ball.

"It’s also an honour to be hosting the dogwalk as it brings together the two loves of my life - fashion and animals."
