Santa has been redefined as a slimmed down superhero by a six year old whose design could be turned into printed Christmas cards.

Reuben Bowes, from Clapham, is a super hero fanatic, and when he entered ITV’s annual Daybreak Sketch Santa competition he wanted to show Saint Nick as a caped crusader.

Mum, Juliette O’Hara, said: "He wanted to do it since last year but was too young to participate; he’s interested in superheroes and drew Santa as a superhero for the competition".

His design so impressed judges he has made it through to the final four with the chance to have his design sold in a pack of six alongside designs created by celebrities including The Saturdays, Tulisa, Emmerdale’s Mathew Wolfenden and Daybreak’s presenters Aled Jones and Lorraine Kelly.

Sketch Santa searches for promising young artists between the age of six and 16, to take part in designing cards of what Christmas means to them.

The winning card will be available to buy nationwide from Hallmark, Asda and charity stores with a proportion of profits donated to charities Age UK, Anthony Nolan, Carers UK, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Together for Short Lives and Whizz-Kidz.
