Putney will shine bright this festive season when the Christmas lights are switched on accompanied by a winter market later this month.

Held at Church Square, off Putney High Street, the free event will see the lights adorning the 32ft Christmas tree and the High Street switched on at about 6pm on November 30.

Events are running all afternoon from 3pm to 7.45pm and include a Christmas market, lantern process, live music and other festive entertainment.

Children will enjoy the school choirs, bouncy castle and carousel, while the live music, mulled wine and hot food will keep the adults happy.

Last year the event proved a success, with an estimated 2,000 attendees.

In other parts, Wandsworth Town is welcoming in the festive season with an afternoon of activities spread across town the following day on Saturday, December 1.

These include a Christmas card making workshop, a carol service, quiz, and Christmas procession, followed by the Christmas lights switch-on at 5pm by the Mayor of Wandsworth.
