A dramatic rescue took place by Putney Bridge on Thursday morning after a man fell into the River Thames.
Ambulances, fire crews and police were on the scene to tend to the 54-year-old victim who was believed to have fallen "from a height" according to the London Ambulance Service.
Duncan Laird, from Lower Richmond Road, Putney, saw it unfold: "Someone was being brought ashore into the ambulance.
"Suddenly we saw the helicopter hovering really low next to the bridge over the river.
"Then it set down on the gravel next to the river."
After being hauled from the river, the man was treated and taken to St George's Hospital "as a priority".
