The Royal Mail have paid tribute to murdered punk postman Steve Andrews.

Mr Andrews worked as a postman for 13 years in Willesden, north London, prior to his death on Sunday.

He had been living in Harlesden and was out celebrating his girlfriend's birthday when he suffered life-threatening head injuries in a pub fight.

Royal Mail spokesperson Sally Hopkins said: "We were shocked and saddened to learn of the death of a colleague on December 9.

"Stephen had worked with us for 13 years and was a popular and hard-working member of our delivery staff in Willesden.

"Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this time. We would urge anyone with any information to go to the police."

The incident took place outside the Duke's Head pub, in Lower Richmond Road, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Mr Andrews' mureder on Tuesday after handing himself in to an Exeter police station.
