Motorists are being reminded by Wandsworth Council to take care where they park their cars on bank holidays over the Christmas and New Year break.

Drivers can park for free for as long as they like in any marked bay in a controlled parking zone (CPZ) in Wandsworth on December 25 and 26 and also on January 1.

They will not need to purchase a pay and display ticket, pay-by-phone or display a parking permit.

However they should avoid parking on a yellow line on these three days - although they are bank holidays yellow line restrictions will still apply.

Drivers who leave their cars in parking bays that are only available for part of the day should check the signs carefully to avoid parking there when the yellow line restrictions come into force.

Motorists who obstruct driveways or park unlawfully in specialist bays such as doctors' bays and mandatory disabled bays may also be penalised.

Similarly drivers should not park across dropped kerbs.

As well as receiving a penalty notice, vehicles that breach any of these rules could also be towed away.
