St George's Hospital operating as normal following fire
A hospital wing is operating as normal after it was closed following a fire.
Grosevnor Wing and the medical school were closed off after the blaze destroyed a store room close to the roof of St George's Hospital, in Blackshaw Road, Tooting.
About 150 people evacuated the hospital before the fire brigade arrived.
The fire was under control by 10.46am, and the hospital was back to usual by the afternoon.
Fire crews from Wimbledon, Clapham, Tooting, Battersea and Wandsworth attended, with six fire engines needed at the scene.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Cranmere Terrace, in Tooting, was temporarily blocked following the fire, with buses on diversion.
