Schoolchildren invited to enter Holocaust Memorial Day design competition
Schoolchildren are being invited to take part in a design competition for Holocaust Memorial Day.
Wandsworth Council is encouraging pupils to create a piece of work based on the theme for the day on January 27.
The theme for the event is Communities Together - Build a Bridge, with entrants taking inspiration from the past and present.
Primary and secondary school children can either enter a poster, t-shirt, photograph or poem.
There will be prizes awarded to the winner and runner up of each category. Winners will be announced during a special event in February.
Councillor Kathy Tracey, cabinet member for education and children's services, said: "Holocaust Memorial Day gives all of us a chance to reflect on the lessons learnt from the Holocaust and other past atrocities.
"I hope every young person taking part in the competition is able to use the experience, not only to learn important lessons from human history, but also to be inspired to help create a safer, brighter future."
Entries can be submitted to the council with an entry form to Events Office, Staff Yard, Battersea Park, SW11 4NJ by January 27.
