‘Beast from the East’ not as fierce as first feared
Areas across south west London and Surrey received their first covering of snow this morning.
But the weather front nicknamed ‘the Beast from the East’ had a bark worse than it’s bite for the region as most places escaped with only a light dusting of the white stuff.
More rain and sleet is forecast for this evening and there will be some heavy snow showers overnight. These are expected to have dispersed by dawn and cloud cover will continue to clear throughout the morning leaving a bright, sunny afternoon.
The clear skies mean it’s going to be feeling pretty chilly though with highs of only 3°C so wrap up warm and watch out for icy patches on untreated roads and pavements.
