Update: Pedestrian killed in Balham after being struck by lorry
A pedestrian has been killed after being struck by a lorry in Balham.
The incident happened just before 4pm this afternoon outside Balham station, in Balham High Road.
The identity and sex of the deceased is unknown at this stage.
Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service are currently at the scene.
A spokesman for the LAS: "We were called today at 3.56pm to Balham High Road.
"We sent an duty station officer and an ambulance crew to the scene. Sadly the person died."
Wandsworth Police tweeted: "We have officers with @Ldn_Ambulance outside #Balham train station dealing with an RTC.
"Cordons are going in. Pls avoid area. @BBCTravelAlert."
Balham High Road has been closed in both directions following the incident.
