A team of Aussie business owners, musicians and residents have joined forces to organise an Australia Day event.

The event in Battersea on January 26 will raise funds for those affected by the bushfires that have been sweeping Australia.

More than 110,000 hectares of land and more than 130 homes have been destroyed, with fires in Tasmania being the worst.

The Australia Day event is taking place at Wessex House, where during the afternoon the venue will become an Aussie themed fames room filled with a range of activist including an eating competition and a best dressed award.

Evening entertainment will feature bands and DJs and hot food and snacks will be available throughout the event.

Tickets cost £10 and are available in advance via the website and on the door. The tickets of those arriving before 2pm will include a welcome beer.

All proceeds from the door will be given to the Australian Red Cross.
