Wandsworth is set to benefit from a raft of work and changes to help improve the town centre.

New pavement is finally being laid along the western side of Garratt Lane to coincide with shopping centre Southside's £40m redevelopment opposite Sainsbury's.

Restaurants Wagamama and Rossopomodoro are due to open in the shopping centre in April.

The next phase of the redevelopment will include the demolition of Arndale House and Arndale Walk at the end of the year.

It will comprise 100,000 sq ft of new retail space including a Debenhams occupying three floors.

New entrances on Garratt Lane and from the North Mall inside the centre will open in 2015.

There will be five other retail units and a larger leisure unit on the second floor.

The existing building frontages at the junction of Garratt Lane and Wandsworth High Street will also be enhanced.
