Pub fiction on offer in Wandsworth
A writer is selling his work at a pub in a bid to get his books noticed.
Visitors to The Hope, in Bellevue Road, Tooting, will be able to snap up a copy of Finnian Fitzpatrick's novels when they visit the pub.
Mr Fitzpatrick, 50, of Moyser Road, Furzedown, is hoping the move will get the community talking about his work.
Customers will be able to pick up a variety of different books, with the option of gift-wrapping so they can be purchased as a last minute present.
Books on offer include Innocent Proven Guilty, which tells the tale of a brother accused of fratricide set in Trinity Road and Tooting.
Thriller Switch features a journalist who dreams of his own demise, while A Dish Best Eaten Cold is about a boy who takes revenge on the school bully.
There is also the option to buy Major Bruton's Safari - an amusing account of the author's travels in Uganda.
Mr Fitzpatrick said he came up the idea following the closure of several bookshops in the area.
He said: "I have been writing for many years now, since I was 15. I have an eclectic mixture of writing.
"Wandsworth is my home town and south London is my home, I know the area really well. I think there is a lot of enthusiasm, the staff think it is a very good idea.
"I am so pleased they agreed to stock my books, I had lost hope in getting my books to a market beyond my friends but The Hope has given me new hope that I can reach a wider audience."
Pub fiction has been offer on The Hope since last Wednesday, with plans now in place to sell the books at other pubs in the area.
They are priced at £7.99, which includes gift-wrapping.
