Wireless radio DJ Esta Charkham helped residents keep warm at two Wandsworth day centre's this week by launching the Winter Warmer campaign.

Visitors at both the Randall Close and Gwynneth Morgan Resource Centre were handed digital radios to keep track of the temperature and listen for toasty tips while receiving blankets, gloves and heat packs.

As part of the Leonard Cheshire Disability initiative funded by Wandsworth Council Public Health and supported by St George's Healthcare NHS Trust regulars took part in stay warm workshops becoming more temperature savvy.

William J Gallagher, Randall Close Resource Centre service manager, said: "This is an exciting collaboration for us.

"The idea is we give people who use our services a radio so they can stay connected in the cold snap and listen to familiar radio shows like Esta’s giving advice on exercise and keeping warm to music."

"We want to reach out to as many people in the community as we can and have a personal fitness instructor on hand for six weeks to keep people motivated."
