Broadwater Primary school on Broadwater road, Tooting, will host a Fashion Cafe on Friday March 8 from 3.30pm.

The event will showcase design entries for a competition based on ‘the journey of our times’ held for year 5 and 6 students. There will also be a charity cake sale to raise money for the school.

Fashion designer, Mrs Barjis Crohan, 41, who judged the competition last month, will display pictures and videos of her latest collection and will be present to answer questions concerning her career as a Fashion Designer.

Mrs Crohan, who attended Broadwater as a child and now lives on Graveney Road with her husband and three children, said “I hope I have inspired more young people to venture into the creative fields.”

Competition winner Henna Gaffar, 11, and runner up, Yasmine Simohand, 10, won front row seats to Mrs Chohan’s fashion show at the Swarovski Crystallized lounge, during London Fashion Week in February.

Henna’s print was made into a scarf.

She said: "It was really exciting and fascinating. The designs were unique and really inspired me. I think it is really good that she has followed her dreams and that inspires me too."
