Fun run held for prisoners and ex-cons in Battersea Park
6:00am Tuesday 12th March 2013 in News By Alexandra Rucki
Fundraisers took part in a fun run to raise money for a charity supporting offenders and ex-prisoners.
The 10k run in Battersea Park was organised by Safe Ground, based in Lavender Hill.
It is the first time the charity has hosted a race, with the governor of Brixton prison joining runners in training, though unable to attend the final run.
Bad Boys Bakery, created by Gordon Ramsey in the prison, supported the event and sold their treats during the day.
Whole Foods Market Clapham also provided goody bags for runners to keep up their energy levels.
The money raised will help go towards running the Family Man programme, which works in prisons and helps prevent re-offending.
