Man fighting for his life after being hit by telegraph pole
A 27-year-old man is fighting for his life after being hit by a falling telegraph pole.
The man was walking along Spanish Road, Battersea, when the pole fell on his head just before 7pm.
Two ambulance crews, a single responder in a car and an ambulance were sent to the scene.
Paramedics resuscitated him after he suffered a cardiac arrest and treated him for a head injury.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: "First aid crews arrived in just over three minutes.
"He was taken as a priority in a serious condition to St George's Hospital."
He remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition.
Police cordoned off the area and are liaising with the Health and Safety Executive.
Next of kin have been informed.
It is believed the wooden telegraph pole fell after rotting through the bottom.
Yesterday, in Wimbledon, a 50ft tree fell over and smashed into a house.
