Man found dead at Springfield Hospital, Tooting

An inquest has been opened after a man was found dead at Tooting's Springfield Hospital.
The man had a history of mental illness and had previously resided at Broadmoor Hospital, in Berkshire.
Precise details of the deceased's identity have yet to be released but a spokeswoman for South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust confirmed the death last Friday.
She said: "We continue to support and cooperate with the police and the coroners investigations, and are awaiting the formal report from the coroner as to the cause of death.
"People in contact with mental health services are protected by patient confidentiality and it would be inappropriate for us to discuss individual cases.
"Whenever a serious incident is reported about a service user, South West London and St Georges Mental Health Trust has a robust and comprehensive system to investigate fully and where appropriate engage with other local services such as the police, commissioners and GPs."
