A budget accommodation company is hoping to open six new hotels in the borough.

Travelodge are looking for sites to develop in Battersea, Earlsfield and Nine Elms Lane.

They also want to open hotels in Putney, Roehampton and Wandsworth.

If the company can find suitable locations 140 jobs would be available, adding £14m to the economy.

Grant Hearn, chief executive, said: "Our three existing hotels in Wandsworth are performing strongly all year round.

"Whether it be business travellers, leisure customers or families coming to visit loved ones, we are regularly achieving high occupancy levels."

Travelodge already have hotels in Balham, Battersea and Clapham Common.

Yesterday, the company told the Wimbledon Guardian they also had plans to open four new hotels in Merton.
