A tense stand-off has taken place for the last 14 hours between police and a wanted man who has taken refuge on a roof top.

Anthony Bulmer, believed to be in his 20s, has been on the roof of the building in Wakeford Close, Clapham, since 2am this morning.

Bulmer has thrown broken roof tiles at police and cars while they have attempted to negotiate with him.

Police are now getting a new team in to negotiate.

Superintendent Nigel Quantrell said: “Bulmer is on warrant for a number of crimes.

He said: "We were called last night, he refused to leave the premises.

"He attacked police and vehicles with loose floor tiles. He has since threatened them with violence. He climbed to the roof and has refused to come down.

"We can't go in because of the roof issue, otherwise we would have resolved this a long time ago."

Bulmer's twin brother, David Bulmer, said they were both in prison for six years and recently released on bail.

He claims a bail hostel lost paperwork and they were both recalled to prison for six weeks.

Mr Bulmer went back to Belmarsh Prison, but his brother Anthony is still wanted by police and refuses to go.

Mohammed Islam, Costcutter manager, said: "I saw police vans going past just now.
"This area is quiet and safe and peaceful, there is not much trouble all of the time in this area."

Louise McGovern, worker at Ducks and Hedges, said: "It is a bit of a weird event.
"Every now and again something happens,  nothing as serious as this."
