A choir of Olympic volunteers is appealing for sponsorship to help prepare for its biggest gig yet.

The Games Maker Choir, created during London 2012, will be performing at the Rugby League World Cup semi final in Wembley in November.

Choir members travel from all over the country to rehearse in Northcote Road Baptist Church, in Battersea.

Since forming they have performed at Go Local in the Olympic Park, charity events and weddings, while raising money for sporting charities.

The group will soon need to begin rehearsing every fortnight for the Wembley performance, but members have concerns over costs as they fund their own transport and overnight stay.

Victoria Verbi, choir founder and director, of Honeywell Road, Battersea, said: "People pay their own expenses - one lady gets nine buses from Newcastle. It is a massive commitment from our volunteers.

"People are using their retirement funds to get to the rehearsals."

A total of 500 people have signed up to choir, with a group of 100 members set to sing 11 songs for rugby fans.

The performance is taking place on November 23.
