Policeman sprayed with ammonia in York Place, Battersea
A policeman was sprayed in the face with a substance during a routine day-time patrol.
The uniformed policeman stopped a man on a moped in York Place, Battersea, yesterday at 3pm.
He was then sprayed in the face with the corrosive substance, believed to be ammonia.
The suspect fled the scene on a silver moped.
The injured officer, from the Metropolitan Police's Safer Transport Command, was taken to a central London hospital for treatment.
He has since been discharged from hospital.
Enquiries continue and no arrests have been made.
This morning Wandsworth Police tweeted: "Thank you all for your kind words regarding our injured colleague yesterday. We'll keep you updated and pass on your comments."
