Rain fails to dampen horticultural show's spirits
Some of the borough's finest fruits, vegetables and flowers were on display last weekend at the Roehampton Garden Society's successful Autumn Show.
Despite the rain last weekend there was a sunny village atmosphere at St Margaret's Church, in Putney Park Lane.
More than 150 people turned to cast their over some of the 200 exhibits on show.
Vegetable grower Mike Rigby won Best in Show with his cucumber while novice Lynda McLean was thrilled to win a first with her rosy dessert apples.
Other more experienced gardeners were the green-fingered Paula Alderson, with her tasty top prize tomatoes, and Liz Chrominska, shown with her prize winning borlotti beans.
Further winners at the event included Sukina Sakey, with her leeks, and Georgina O'Reilly, with a warty pumpkin.
Pat Davis, who won prizes for her flower arrangements, organised the teas and baked some delicious cakes.
The RGS welcomes new members so if you would like to join, add your name to the allotment waiting list and pop along on a Sunday morning.
