Soul singer reunites with family for new album launch
A soul singer who has performed alongside the likes of Stevie Wonder, Cliff Richard and Jessie J has reunited with his family to release their first album for 20 years.
Noel McKoy, alongside siblings Cornell, Robin and Junette, is set to release Cut from the Same Cloth, on Friday at the Bedford pub in Balham.
Mr McKoy first teamed up with his family members in the late 80s before releasing Full Circle – Within A Social Soul in 1993.
What followed was two decades of musical exploration that encompassed reggae, rock and acid jazz and a number of high profile duets.
He said: “My career highlight was jamming with Stevie Wonder after his gig at the O2 where I met him backstage and made up lyrics with him. He is one of my biggest inspirations.”
Following the launch the band, McKoy, will tour the UK and Europe.
McKoy’s album launch will be at the Bedford, Bedford Hill, Balham on October 4 from 7pm to 9pm. For tickets call 07450 846245 and their new single Making Love is out November 3.
