Balham student Hannah Barrett makes it through to X Factor live finals
A student will be competing in the X Factor live finals after impressing Nicole Schezinger.
Hannah Barrett, a student at St Francis Xavier College (SFX), in Malwood Road, Balham, jetted out to Schezinger's Antigua pad in a bid to bag a place in the finals.
The 17-year-old belted out a version of 'A Change Is Gonna Come' and impressed Schezinger alongside guest mentor Mary J Blige.
Hannah, of Croydon, will now compete against 11 other hopefuls, including bands, with the aim of securing number one in the Christmas charts.
Former Pussycat Doll singer Schezinger said: "Hannah, I have believed in you from the moment that I saw you from your first audition.
"When you sing you're a star. You are a star so I want you to come to the live shows."
Hannah, an A Level student studying drama and performance studies, lost her father when she was nine-years-old.
She was living in temporary accommodation after falling out with her mother and also works part time in a baker's.
The teenager was excluded from Archbishop Lanfranc school and attended the Croydon African Caribbean Family Organisation (C.A.C.F.O) education centre.
She recently won Best Vocalist award at the SFX Oscars at the college, with her sights now set on stardom.
Last year's X Factor winner James Arthur has backed Hannah to win.
He tweeted: "Hannah has to win this year for me. That is what you call soul! Take note on how to believe in what your singin from this girl!"
Hannah will appear on the show this Saturday on ITV.
