The entire roof of an office building has been ripped away and landed in a street.
A Leatherhead fire officer said that they were called to an office building near Chessington World of Adventures at 283 Kingston Road, in Leatherhead, at 6.45am.
He said: "The wind cut underneath the flat roof at the corner of the building, ripped through it and had blown it all off."
The firefighter said no one was injured in the incident and that the roof is lying on a side street off Kingston Road, which remains open.
He added: "The roof has been left in the hands of the local authority, they will be responsible to come and clear it up."
The fire station was also called to nearby Aperdele Road, in Leatherhead, which runs parallel to Kingston Road, last night, after a tree came down from within the grounds of a school, adjacent to Clare Crescent.
He said: "It snapped in half and landed across Aperdele Road, which is closed."
