A fire station hosted a tea party to help raise fire safety awareness among elderly people.

The event, hosted by The White Watch at Battersea fire station, Contact the Elderly and the Leonard Cheshire trust, took at the station in Este Road, Battersea.

A total of 45 elderly people attended the event last month.

The majority of residents live on their own and the event gave them the chance to make new friends from the same generation.

They were treated to an afternoon of fun and entertainment at the fire station.

The Mayor of Wandsworth, Councillor Angela Graham, helped distribute warm bags.

The afternoon provided the opportunity for participants to take home a free smoke alarm and have a risk assessment in their homes.
