Rail delays for travellers in south London

Rail passengers are facing significant delays this evening after incidents at West Croydon and Balham.

A statement on the Southern Trains website said: "Southern services are subject to disruption this evening following an earlier signal problem at West Croydon and an operating incident at Balham.

"Journey times may be extended by up to 30 minutes on arrivals and departures from Victoria and London Bridge this evening.

"TFL buses accepting tickets between London-Croydon and Sutton and Croydon Tramlink are accepting tickets between Mitcham and Beckenham Junction, Also South West Trains, First Capital Connect, Brighton and Hove buses are all accepting Southern ticket holders."

Delays of up to 30 minutes have also been reported on First Capital Connect services out of Sutton station.

Services from other stations on the Thameslink route including Wimbledon are also affected.

I thought travellers moved, or more usually remained static, on someone else's patch, rather than use trains.though level crossing gates might have stuck and delayed them reaching the next space they planned to invade.
