Battersea MP meets award-winning volunteer

Wandsworth Guardian: Lillian Dickinson and Jane Ellison Lillian Dickinson and Jane Ellison

Battersea MP Jane Ellison took time out to visit a coffee morning at Randall Close Resource Centre last week.

The MP chatted to regular visitors including Lillian Dickinson, a 90-year-old Battersea resident who recently received an award for 50 years volunteering in Wandsworth and is a much–loved regular at Randall Close, a day service run by Leonard Cheshire Disability.

Ms Ellison said: "I’ve had a wonderful day today. It is always a joy to visit the Randall Close team and meet the service users."

"Events like this are hugely important for the community. There are the obvious social benefits, but there has also been a lot research into isolation and the impact it can have.

"Coffee mornings like this play a massive part in the wellbeing of those who attend them and makes them feel like part of society and the local community."
