A woman died after being struck by a train last night.

Police, fire crews, ambulance and the air ambulance were called to Battersea Park train station, in Battersea Park Road, at 11.15pm last night.

Medics from the London Ambulance Service pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

The train involved was a Victoria to Gatwick Airport Express service.

A spokeswoman from British Transport Police (BTP) said: "Officers from BTP and the Metropolitan Police Service attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 11.09pm and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

"Medics from the London Ambulance Service also attended but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The woman’s family has been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

MPS Helicopters tweeted last night: "We've moved on now to assist @btp_uk officers at Battersea Park station searching the tracks for a person seen walking along them."

Witness Joby Hollis wrote on Twitter: "So something serious has happened at

Battersea Park, they've closed the whole station. loads of police, paramedics and firefighters outside."

The line was handed back to Network Rail just before 12am.
