People affected by recent flooding can submit their views to Wandsworth Council.

Following bad floods across the UK in 2007, the government gave local authorities new powers to identify, co-ordinate and manage flood risk. The Local Flood Risk Management Strategy will set out how this will be done.

Before drawing up the strategy, Wandsworth is talking to local residents, businesses, community groups and others.

It wants to know about issues including: - Whether people have experienced flooding in the past and how it affected them.

- If local people already get information about floods - If residents understand the flood risk in their area, and to what level they believe they should prepare themselves for possible flooding.

- What locals think the council should be doing to better manage flood risk.

- Who they think should pay for flood management.

The results will feed into a draft survey and there will then be another chance to comment next summer before the final survey is completed.

The council’s flooding spokesman, Councillor Russell King, said: "We welcome the opportunity to make sure our residents and businesses are protected as much as possible against the damaging effects of floods.

"We will work with other agencies to make our Flood Management Strategy as joined-up and robust as it can be.

"To help us do this, I would urge people who live or run a business in Wandsworth to tell us how flooding has affected them in the past and what they think needs to be done to prevent it in the future."
