A three-legged Staffie from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home who counts Michael Buble as a pal has found a happy home after two months at the charity.

Eight-year-old Buddy was spotted by the Saluk family, from Erith in Kent, after starring on ITV’s Paul O’Grady: For The Love Of Dogs at Christmas, which is filmed at the charity's base, where he met celebrity crooner Michael Buble.

Battersea was inundated with offers of new homes for Buddy after viewers fell in love with him on the one hour Christmas Day special, which attracted more than 6m viewers.

Beverley and Steve Saluk were one of dozens of enquiries who contacted the Home about Buddy and as previous Staffie owners based in rural Kent they were a perfect match for a three-legged boy with plenty of zest for life.

Mr Saluk, who works in security, said: "We’re just over the moon with Buddy and feel so privileged to be looking after him - he’s such a special Staffie.

"My wife was in tears watching the show and we knew straight away he was the dog for us.

"We’re so grateful to Battersea’s foster carers who looked after him while he was waiting for a home to go to.

"He’s really affectionate and loves nothing more than jumping on the sofa for cuddles with us."

Carly Perry, rehoming coordinator at the charity, said: "It’s fantastic to see Buddy go to a wonderful home as a direct result of our Christmas special.

"We knew once someone saw his soft and cuddly side it wouldn’t matter about his missing leg. He doesn’t let it hinder him in the slightest."
