An armed gang who carried out a string of robberies and burglaries in a brutal spree over the course of a week have been jailed for almost 50 years.
Kingston Crown Court heard the men armed themselves with axes, knives, hammers and baseball bats during their sentencing at Kingston Crown Court on January 17.
Horace Demetrius, 25, of East Hill, Wandsworth, was jailed for 13 years, and Joe Mead, 23, of Derinton Road, Tooting, was jailed for 12 years, for conspiracy to rob and burgle.
John Rother, 25, of Tyneham Road, Battersea, and Dwayne Quintyn, 19, of Leverson Street, Streatham, were both given eight years and nine months for conspiracy to rob and burgle.
Syleman Ayub, 23, of Seely Road, Tooting, was given four years for conspiracy to burgle.
Darren Obuabang, 38, of Woodgate Drive, Streatham, was found guilty of handling stolen goods and was jailed for one year and eight months.
Daniel Daley, 23, of Briton Street, Leicester, was found guilty of conspiracy to commit burglary and was given a suspended sentenced of one year and seven months.
The first robbery took place on August 19, 2012, at Nisa Local, Bellevue Road, Wandsworth.
Daley, Demetrius, Quintyn and Mead entered the shop, threatening staff with a claw hammer and knife.
They forced staff to open the till and made off with £2,000.
On August 22 Demetrius, Quintyn, Mead, Daley and Rother went into Ambaal Stores Mini Market in Streatham Road, Mitcham, at 10.20pm armed with an axe.
They stole £300 and bottles of alcohol before moving into Spar, in Martin Way, Morden, with a baseball bat and knives.
The gang stole £1,750 as well as alcohol and tobacco.
Quintyn and Demetrius attempted to rob the Convenience Store in Eardley Road, Streatham, on August 23.
The pair entered the shop at 10.45pm armed with an axe and hammer, but made off with nothing after staff managed to raise the alarm.
TF Foods, in Trinity Road, Tooting, was targeted on August 25, just before 1am.
Mead, Quintyn, Demetrius, Daley and Rother entered the shop armed with knives and a hammer, stealing £900, as well as alcohol.
About £2,000 worth of gold was also stolen from a residential property in Mitcham Lane, Tooting, on August 20, 2012.
The gang stole high value bicycles from a number of sheds across Wandsworth, totalling to £28,000.
Judge Georgina Kent, sentencing, said: "I have no doubt that many others in Wandsworth would have fallen victim to this gang if not for the police actions and the support they were given by members of the public."
Acting borough commander, Chief Superintendent Paul McGregor, said: "I am determined that Wandsworth Police will continue to tackle violent criminals who pose a threat to our community.
"My officers worked tirelessly to obtain the best evidence available to put before the court.
"Together with the Crown Prosecution Service we have succeeded in removing seven violent criminals from the street."
