A pop-up shop giving people information on cancer launched this week.

Nurses and experts will be at the shop located in Southside Shopping Centre, Garratt Lane.

MP Jane Ellison, mayor of Wandsworth, Councillor Angela Graham, and Councillor Jim Madden, cabinet member for health, visited the shop on Thursday.

The Get To Know Cancer pop-up has been organised by NHS England and Wandsworth Council.

Visitors can get information from trained nurses and other experts, who will refer patients to other services if necessary.

Ms Ellison said: "Well done Wandsworth - this is a great example of a local authority doing its bit to help tackle cancer. It is also good to see practical support from local business, with Southside Shopping Centre backing this initiative."

"Awareness and early diagnosis is absolutely vital and the pop-up shop is a really simple but innovative way to give people the information they need.

"The key message is ‘If in doubt, check it out’. As Public Health Minister, I am very proud to see this sort of health initiative in my local area."

It is not necessary to make an appointment, with specialist cancer nurses on hand to discuss issues.

The pop-up shop will be open from January 24-February 16 from Monday-Friday 9am-7pm, Saturday 9am- 6pm, Sunday 11am-5pm.
