A concert featuring world renowned trumpet player Jonathan Clarke and saxophonist Lara James will be held this Sunday to raise money for the Haiyan Typhoon appeal.
The concert was the brainchild of Jonathan Clarke, formerly of the Royal Philharmonic and BBC Concert Orchestras, who is now based in London.
The free recital will include solo items, military fanfares, a brass quintet and will raise money for the British Red Cross’s Typhoon Haiyan Appeal.
Ms James has performed as a concerto soloist and recitalist throughout the world, including in the UK on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM, on Ireland’s RTE, in the USA on NPR and on ABC Classic FM Australia.
Mr Clarke, said: "The terrible plight of the victims of Typhoon Haiyan is especially close to my heart, as my wife was born in the Philippines.
"The Putney concert promises to be an inclusive mix of music, from baroque to modern, performed by soloists and group ensembles."
The concert will include well-known concertos including the Telemann Concerto in D and the Marcello Oboe Concerto, arranged for a soprano saxophonist.
The devastating Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines in November 2013 and the death toll currently stands at more than 10,000.
Further guest artists include trumpet virtuoso and local resident Paul Archibald, euphonium star John Storey and Adrian Miotti.
The recital starts at 7.30pm at All Saint's Church in Putney on Sunday, February 2.
