A protest took place outside Wandsworth Prison on Saturday in support of the Fathers4Justice campaigner jailed for defacing a painting of the Queen.
Tim Haries, 42, was sentenced to six months earlier for one count of criminal damage at South Crown Court in February for writing ‘help’ on the portrait having smuggled a can of purple spray paint into Westminster Abbey last June.
Protesters chanted: “No jail for being a dad, no jail for loving your kids” and “Let the daddy out”, while dressed as the Queen.
Fraser Chatburn, a founding member of Fathers4Justice, travelled down from Birmingham to voice his support.
He said: "We needed to raise public awareness to what is a loving father who has lost his kids.
"Tim is a very intelligent, articulate and hardworking guy."
Father-of-two Haries, from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, had himself been protesting against the courts having been denied access to his children.
