A Clapham resident is set to enter the Dragons’ Den this weekend.

James Roupell, 26, will be trying to gain investment to help launch his baby backpack business, ‘Bobo Buddies’.

The product, which Mr Roupell invented in 2011, is an all-in-one rucksack, soft toy, blanket and pillow.

He said: "As a child I had a toy that my granny had made for me that had a blanket with it.

"I carried it with me everywhere and it is definitely the inspiration behind Bobo Buddies."

Despite being a fan of the show, Mr Roupell was initially cautious when approached about being on Dragons’ Den.

However, he realised that without funding he would struggle to meet demands following contact from several major retailers.

He said: "We were getting some quite serious interest from the likes of Debenhams and JoJo Maman Bébé, so I knew that now was the time to strike.’"

As well as his grandmother, Lulla, Mr Roupell’s parents have also played a big part in his entrepreneurial side.

He said: "I grew up in a household where both my parents worked for themselves, so I have two great mentors there."

Mr Roupell will appear as a main feature on the BBC2 show at 9pm on Sunday, March 2.
