A male passenger was cut from a car by firefighters after it crashed into a lamppost in the early hours of the morning.

The passenger escaped with a bruised hand after the incident on the junction of Garratt Lane and Kharma Road in Tooting.

The driver was not hurt, according to reports.

Metropolitan Police officers and firefighters from Tooting were called just after midnight on Saturday, March 1, to reports that a car had crashed into a lamppost.

A spokesperson at Tooting fire station said fire crews cut the roof off the car to get the man, who was aged 19 years, out as a precaution.

He was brought out of the vehicle on a stretcher and taken to hospital.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said they were called at 12.06am to reports of a road traffic collision.

There were no arrests made.
