A community-spirited gardening club is brightening their street by launching a ‘Pimp our Pavement’ campaign.
On Friday parents and children met up between 5pm and 7pm, to decorate their street with plants and flowers.
The gardening club is made up of 11 children, seven parents, and two residents who all live on East Putney’s Schubert Road.
They will now meet every Friday to water and maintain the plants.
The Schubert Road Gardening Club was started by 34-year-old Louise McMeekin, who has lived on the street for 10 years.
She said: "We decided the biggest problem we have on our road is the pavements are in such a bad state, with dog mess and cracked and dropped paving slabs and kerbs.
"We really need to do whatever we can to improve the look of our street."
Ms McMeekin’s son Daniel, 10, wrote to Homebase in Wandsworth asking for plants to be donated to their campaign.
He wrote: "Can you please please please help us make our pavements look nice. Mummy said residents on our street are always good at supporting local businesses."
The store sent 88 plants in response, including rosemary, lavender and ferns.
