The tearful father of three disabled children found dead in New Malden watched his wife appear at court this morning charged with their murder.

Tania Clarence, 42, was arrested on Tuesday night after police found the bodies of Olivia, 4, and Ben and Max, 3 at their home in Thetford Road.

She appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court this morning for a two minute hearing.

She wore a long-sleeved grey shirt and was also in tears, glancing towards the public gallery as she confirmed her name, address, and date of birth.

Mrs Clarence is accused of murdering the children at some point between Sunday, April 20 and Wednesday, April 23.

Husband Gary, an Investec executive, hugged relatives as he entered the public gallery before the hearing.

Mrs Clarence will next appear at the Old Bailey on April 29, having been remanded in custody.

A preliminary hearing will also take place on May 9.

Post-mortem examinations were carried out on her children yesterday afternoon.

Mr Clarence is understood to have been on holiday with their eldest child in his native South Africa at the time of the alleged murder.
