The London FolkFest is coming to Wandsworth in June, with more than 40 musicians descending on the borough, writes Tom Gillespie.

Folk, acoustic, roots and organic music will take over the Bedford pub in Balham during the four-day event.

The festival pushes forward emerging talent, including the Dunwells, Beth Rowley, Emily Barker, and Luke Concannon.

Bridie Jackson and the Arbour, Jon Gomm, Crowns and Polly Paulusma also make up the eclectic line-up.

The acts have been stirring up excitement among the folk-faithful and will captivate punters new to the genre.

Now in its fourth year, the event is set to draw in festivalgoers from all over the country.

The host of acts will perform across four stages at the Bedford, a venue renowned for its live music.

Paolo Nutini, Ed Sheeran, Newton Faulkner and James Morrison are just a handful of the stars who played their early shows there.

FolkFest founder and creative director Tony Moore says: “I am thrilled and excited the London FolkFest has achieved so much since we began.

“We are looking forward to presenting an even more exciting and musically diverse event this year.

“Our goal at the beginning was to breakdown some of the boundaries between different types of music, and present a great blend of artistry that would surprise, inspire and entertain everyone.”

Housed over three floors, the Bedford is filled with secret nooks and crannies, offering unique and intriguing performance spaces.

The indoor festival will not only be weatherproof, but will also be set in a great location to add to the atmosphere.

The festival will also offer three days of seminars and workshops about the process of writing, recording, and releasing music.

The FolkFest Insight Seminars take place from June 6 to June 8.

This year the festival is supported by Caffe Nero, Vintage TV, Rekorderlig Cider and PPL.
