A father of two burned nearly 20,000 calories during a charity cycle to France.
The gruelling 300 mile trek from London to Paris was in aid of Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Steve Hallam, from Furzedown, and his team struggled against the elements during the four-day ride, finishing on Saturday May 10.
He said: "Thursday was really hard because we were riding in bad weather against strong headwinds, but we had to get through it for all the people who supported us,"
It was a far cry from his usual work as a regional director for PageGroup.
He said: "This challenge is quite personal for me: my own grandmother and my wife’s grandmother both died with dementia, so Alzheimer’s Research UK is very close to my heart."
His wife Annaliese and their children, Finn and Casey, were there to greet him when he finished the ride at the Eiffel Tower.
The 44-year-old cycled for an average of seven hours a day and burned through 19900 calories according to his equipment.
The challenge was part of a series of events by PageGroup employees aiming to raise £200,000 for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Mr Hallam now plans to take part in another ride from London to Amsterdam next year.
The campaign has raised about £9,800 so far.
