Traffic delays around Clapham South after cyclist hit by car next to the Common

There are  traffic delays around Clapham South tube station after a cyclist in his forties was hit by a car.

The incident happened in the A205, The Avenue, and is causing delays on Windmill Drive, Nightingale Lane and Balham Hill.

On the south side of Clapham Common, near Clapham South Station, there are further delays.

A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at around 3.10pm to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a bicycle on The Avenue.

“We sent an ambulance crew and and a single responder by car to the scene. We treated a man reported to be in his forties. He was taken to King’s College Hospital.”

Hideous junction, as are all the roads around there for anyone not protected by a metal box. Urgently needs Space 4 Cycling.
