A nine-year-old boy has raised over £24,000 for the hospice looking after his father.
Tobias Davey completed his first ever 5k run for the Trinity Hospice, in Clapham, on June 1, in honour of his dad, Geoff, who is an in-patient.
Tobias said: "I wanted to do something to help the hospice and show my dad how much I love him. They have been looking after my dad, who has terminal cancer.
"The nurses and doctors there are fantastic - so kind and patient."
Trinity Hospice, a charity, costs £10 million to run each year. Just 31 per cent of its income is from the NHS.
The hospice must raise over £7 million in charitable donations and legacies each year to provide the specialist end-of-life care its community relies upon.
Catherine Sykes, community fundraiser at Trinity Hospice said, ‘It is really amazing that someone so young has decided to do something so important for both Trinity and his family.
"Tobias has nearly raised enough to fund a Trinity nurse for six months, so we really hope people can support his fundraising efforts."
Trinity is the UK’s oldest hospice, providing the only dedicated end-of-life care service for 750,000 people living in central and south west London.
