Paralympian Sophie Christiansen awards prizes at The Roche School sports day
Paralympian Sophie Christiansen OBE was on hand at a primary school sports day to award prizes to budding athletes.
Children at The Roche School, an independent primary in Barn Elms, were kept active all day on Friday with running races, piggy-back rides and themed obstacle courses.
Parents also joined the competition with a fiercely-fought dads’ tug of war and a mums’ relay race.
Headteacher Vania Adams said: “It was wonderful to have Sophie handing out awards on Sports Day because she represents the fact that life is full of possibilities for everyone.
“She is gifted both in terms of sport and academically but it hasn’t always been easy for her and so our children have learned about the value of tenacity and determination as well as talent.”
The gold medal winning equestrian was raising money to get more people with disabilities into sport.
