A man was hit by a train at Wandsworth Road overground station in the early hours of this morning.

A passing freight train struck the man at about 3.30am this morning, a fire spokesman said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Firefighters from Clapham and Battersea stations were called to the scene at 3.30am on Saturday, June 28.

British Transport Police said they would issue a statement in due course.
