The site of a new secondary school in Battersea received the seal of approval from Jane Ellison this week.

Ms Ellison, MP for Battersea, joined Simon Uttley, headmaster of Saint John Bosco College to inspect the new school being built in Surrey Lane alongside more than 100 new homes.

The new school, a Catholic comprehensive for 11 to 18-year-olds, is due to open in autumn 2015 and will accommodate 1,300 students when full.

The school and homes are being built by property and infrastructure group, Lend Lease.

Richard Cook, head of residential at Lend Lease, said: "We have been working closely with the community to make the new school and homes at Cobalt Place here in Battersea something they can be proud of and have partnered with landowners in both the public and private sectors to deliver them.

"It is great to see such a high level of interest and to have MP Jane Ellison visit the site and see first-hand the work we have been doing."
