A nine-year-old boy has been selected as the runner-up in a national writing competition.

Rohaan Quazi, from Henry Cavendish School, in Balham, was up against thousands of children in Explore Learning’s National Young Writers’ Award.

His story, The Fairy Tale, impressed award-winning author and judge Liz Pichon.

She said the incredibly high quality of writing made it very hard to choose a winner.
